Localization & Pages

How is the locale selected for a visitor?

Visitor locale selection works in 3 steps:

  1. Domain sets the locale. If you enter www.contentair.lt, which has only one locale, your language is determined by the domain.
  2. Browser sets the locale. If you enter www.contentair.com, which has several locales, your browser submits your language preferences. If you were on our website before, we would set the language of your last visit. Otherwise the CMS tries to set a proper locale according to your browser's implied language preferences. If such locale does not exist on our website, go to the last step.
  3. Site admin sets the locale. For every domain the administrator sets a flag next to one locale under it. If the CMS cannot determine your locale in a better way, this primary locale of the domain is used.

You cannot alter this process. When a direct link (permalink) is entered, the locale is determined by the link, so the language selection rules do not apply.
